Elephant Volunteering & Mahout Training in Sri Lanka

Weekend Activities organised by Inspire Sri Lanka

Inspire Sri Lanka want you to make the most of your time here in Sri Lanka.  We understand that when you are volunteering all week you want to relax and have some fun at weekends.  We also appreciate that when you come to Sri Lanka to volunteer you should not have to pay 'tourist' prices for everything you do.

We have identified some of the most popular activities that are feasible to reach from our location for a weekend.  We have found some of the best accommodation and activities and negotiated really good volunteer rates and sorted out transport.  All you need to do is tell us which weekend you want to do when!

We open these trips up to all volunteers in the local area as we feel the more the merrier is always best.

Here are some examples of our weekends:

Adventure weekend - rain forest hiking, mountain biking, abseiling and white water rafting within a jungle campsite with food cooked on a BBQ

Surfing & whale watching - hang out in a eco surf lodge, take a surf lesson, eat the best seafood and also head out to sea to spot the worlds biggest mammal the Blue Whale.

Bentota weekend - a relaxing beach weekend where you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.  You can hang out in the nearby pool, swim in the sea or hire a jet ski or canoe.

Wasgamuwa weekend - wild elephant and bird spotting in the beautiful setting of this national park plus camping overnight in a tree house.

Nuwara Elyia - trekking, tea plantations, and a trip to worlds end are on the agenda of this weekend.  Plus staying in what the Inspire team rate as the best guest house in Sri Lanka!

Dambulla & Sygiria - one of the must do weekends but be prepared for some hard trekking!

Depending on the time of year and any requests from our volunteers we will also organise other trips.
